Lower Stony Creek is located in Tehama and Glenn Counties and is the second largest tributary to the Sacramento River on the west side of the Sacramento Valley. The Lower Stony Creek Watershed drains approximately 38 square miles (24,497 acres). Lower Stony Creek flows predominately southeast from Black Butte Reservoir below Black Butte Dam to the confluence of the Sacramento River, approximately 24 miles. The watershed is approximately 96 percent privately owned.
